Sponsored Programs
Since 1946, the Euclid Kiwanis have sponsored a Key Club at Euclid High School. In recent years, the key club has been very active. For last year and this coming year, the Key Club Lt Governor have been Euclid students.
Euclid Kiwanis was instrumental in starting the Euclid Opportunity School for children with special needs. We have supported this school since its inception and currently continue to support it every month. About 70 years.
We are in the process of developing a Builder's Club at Forest Park Middle School in Euclid. Hopefully, during the next school year we can finally charter this group. The school has provided excellent teacher sponsorship for this group.
A Robotics Program has been started at the Forest Park Middle School. Currently there are about 15 active students. The interest is so high for this program that they continue to meet during the summer break at the Euclid Public Library, waiting for school to start.
We have a Terrific Kids Program in two of the Euclid Pre-Schools. They are visited by Kiwanis members and are responsible for giving out awards to children who earn them through various behavior in school. Along with a certificate they receive a magnet to hang the certificate on the fridge, a Kiwanis pencil, and a teddy bear wearing a Kiwanis sweater.
We have Kids in Safe Seats with the Euclid Police Department. We furnish childrens safe seats that are loaned to parents who are stopped by the police and their children are not protected inside the car. They must return the seat to the court along with proof they have purchased a safe seat of their own for their child.
During the month of December we have the Boots and Shoes program. It is with the help of the school system and approval of the parents to present children in need of these items, with a $25.00 gift certificate to Payless Shoe Store. 100 of these certificates are available to needy children.
During the month of September we will be hosting a Bowl - a - thon to help fight Sickel Cell Disease.
We recycle aluminum cans for the fire department for their burn unit at Metro hospital to furnish children, who have been burned, with new toys. They also offer scholarships.
We recycle magazines for the hospials and nursing homes.
Every year $4000.00 in scholarships are given to high school seniors.
